About this event

Optimum Talent Job Search Intensive is a 4 week course that is designed to help you gain a better understanding of the job market, build your job search skills and increase your employability in the marketplace.

Our aim is to equip you with foundation skills that will assist you in not only securing your first role but will be beneficial throughout your career journey.

This course has been designed for recent graduates and early career professionals who want to increase their employability, build on their job search skills and have a strategy to secure that first role.

Building your personal band :

  • How to build your personal brand with the purpose of increasing your employability
  • How to prepare for and tell your story in an interview
  • Reviewing your social media profile
  • Building a network
  • Working towards finding purpose, meaning and fulfilment in your career and why it should be fun!

The Recruitment process:

  • Understanding the job market and what employers want
  • Developing a clear job search strategy
  • Understanding the steps in the recruitment process
  • How to target the right roles for your skills and experience
  • Preparing a powerful CV and cover letter
  • The importance of ‘grit’ and resilience when job searching
  • Strategies to keep you on track whilst you are actively seeking your first job

  • Understanding behavioural based interviewing techniques
  • Interview practice
  • Typical questions that are asked by employers
  • Questions for you to ask at an interview
  • How to dress for an interview
  • Managing referees
  • Understanding salary package negotiations and employment contracts

The following month after the initial workshop:

  • 2 x Weekly 20 minute webinars on job search strategies and action plans
  • Week 4: One hour live Q&A webinar. Questions can be emailed prior to this webinar or asked during the session.

By the end of the course, you'll be equipped with the ability to build your confidence and skills when navigating the job marketplace, not just for your first job - but for your career in the long run.

MEET YOUR FACILITATOR

Jan Kavanagh is the founding director of Optimum Talent and Optimum Recruitment. Jan began her career in research and organisational development and then moved into the recruitment and organisational consulting sector.

Jan has held senior management roles with global and publicly listed recruitment groups and established Optimum in 2003. Jan remains a hands on recruiter working with global and national organisations in technology, engineering, energy and health.

Jan has also worked as a Career Coach for the past 15 years. Jan has extensive knowledge of the employment market and has developed and conducted graduate recruitment programs for global and national groups. She has a deep understanding of what employers are looking for when recruiting graduates and how graduates can take control of their job search.

Jan has completed a Bachelor of Arts, Graduate Diploma in Psychology and Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Psychology.
